Harambee Starlets to travel to Ivory Coast for friendly matches

The National Women's football team, Harambee Starlets, will travel to the Ivory Coast for two friendly matches.
Head coach Beldine Odemba has named a 25-woman squad that will depart for Abidjan Wednesday morning to take part in the friendlies that will help the national team prepare for upcoming qualifying matches for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Starlets will be without captain Dorcas Shikobe, who suffered an injury while playing for her Greek club, Sirines of Grevena.
Coach Odemba says this will provide an opportunity for others to shine.
"We will be without our captain, unfortunately," Odemba said Tuesday. "We have some new additions, however, who will benefit from the experience."
Odemba has made four additions to the team that defeated Tunisia 1-0 on aggregate in the first round of the 2026 WAFCON qualifiers.
Ann Norah, Vivian Nasaka, Lucy Kwekwe, and Faith Mboya all make the squad for what is an important set of practice matches.
The Starlets will face Ivory Coast on Friday, April 4, 2025, in Abidjan, before meeting again on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the same venue.
The match will represent an opportunity for coach Odemba and the team to test themselves against the well-drilled Ivory Coast.
The Ivorians are ranked 71st in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings, while Kenya are at 142.
